Terms of use
Last updated October 1, 2026
These terms cover your use of shortlistapp.us, run by Shortlist (“we”, “us”). By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Shortlist.
What Shortlist is
Shortlist is an editorial guide: our picks and rankings are our opinions, made by our editors. We visit places and check details, but restaurants change. Hours, prices, menus, reservation policies and whether a place is open can change without notice, so check with the place before you go. We don’t guarantee that any listing is accurate or current. Places don’t pay to be listed or ranked.
Your account
You need to be at least 13 to create an account. You sign in with a link sent to your email, so keep access to that inbox secure. One account per person. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
Vouches
A vouch should reflect your own honest experience of a place. Don’t vote with multiple accounts, automate votes, or vouch for places you own, work for, or are paid by. Vouches go to our editors and don’t change rankings on their own. We may remove vouches or accounts that we believe are being used to game the lists.
Using the site fairly
- Don’t scrape, copy or republish the lists or descriptions in bulk.
- Don’t interfere with the site, try to get into other people’s accounts, or get around our security.
- Don’t use Shortlist for anything unlawful.
Sharing links to Shortlist pages, and the share text and images the site creates, is welcome.
Our content
The rankings, descriptions, design and logo are ours. You can read, save and share them for personal use. Map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors.
Other sites
Shortlist links to restaurants’ websites, reservation services and map directions. Those sites are run by others, and we’re not responsible for them or for your dealings with any place we list.
No warranties
Shortlist is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose, or that the site will always be available or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Shortlist isn’t liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the site or your visit to any place listed on it. Where liability can’t be excluded, it’s limited to $100.
Ending things
You can stop using Shortlist at any time and ask us to delete your account (see the privacy policy). We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.
Changes and law
We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here with a new date, and continuing to use Shortlist means you accept it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
